This week saw the delivery of a new underwater post office to Hideaway Island. The on-going collaboration that we have with the Vanuatu Postal Services ensures that the post office is refreshed and replaced on a regular basis. Stafford and Wills were there to assist at the new launching this week.

The last few weeks have seen us with our annual school holiday groups from New Zealand. Kamo Intermetiate, Te Teko, Kamo again and Te Puke. The kids are involved in all kinds of activities from crab hunting to cultural and educational exchanges with the local schools. Te Keko treated all the staff and other guests to a concert and haka with Kamo Group 2, smashing it out on the beach with a Beach Volley Ball game with some of our Australian guests. Good times on Hideaway Island!

This week saw us saying goodbye to one of our Dive Team, Brian T, who is off to New Zealand for a season of working. We hope to welcome him back in the future. Wills has returned from his 2 week holiday in Australia and we are also joined by Sylver and Max who are loving life on the island.
We recently had a week long visit from Kel from St. George performing hydro-testing on all of our tanks and servicing all of our equipment in the Dive Shop. This was also an opportunity to to upskill our Dive Masters and Instructors and during the week both Wills and Keven achieved their certificates in Visual Testing on Tanks and also full servicing of regulators and bcd’s. Congratulations to Wills and Kevin.

We were thrilled to welcome students from Year 6 & 7 from Vila Central Primary School today to celebrate Book Week. The students had a particular interest in coming to Hideaway as the book they were using related to “historical” stories from Vanuatu and in particular mythical sea creatures. What better way to research than a trip on our Glass Bottom Boat. The kids had a great time and finished off with some morning tea.
